Hama-rikyu Gardens & more!

Last Sunday was fabulous. The Sun was shining, the temperature was moderate, and, we were on our way to Tokyo! First stop was the Hama-rikyu Gardens.

Picture postcard beauty on the edge of Tokyo city.

This is a great place to stop and be at peace with the world.

In the distance Tokyo Tower is dwarfed by other buildings.

The foreground will be a sea of color in the spring when it's planted with flowers.

The entrance on our way out - I guess that makes it the exit.

Crossing the old stone bridge on our way to Tsukiji Market.

Tsukiji Market is a district full of shops and restaurants that sell seafood.

This shop sells a particular type of pickled fish and was the reason we came here. After Emi stocked up on fish we started looking for a place to eat lunch.

Tsukiji Market is a sprawling mass of streets and alleys packed full of small restaurants.

Prices vary between restaurants and we were looking to eat on the cheap.

Having found "cheap" we placed our order...

Then we were lead inside and seated in front of the dish washer. Well, at least we knew that the dishes were clean.

After lunch we headed to Ginza. This was not planned, we were in full "wondering around aimlessly" mode; and enjoying it too!

See what happens when one is on a trip with no plan - Free Hugs!

As we headed toward Nihombashi we encounter a parade.

Enthusiasm, I love it!

It's good to know that parade security is a high priority.

There seemed to be no end to this parade.

So, at this point we decided to call it a day and head home.

Thanks for stopping by!
Mike
